Final Comments on Massachusetts’ Future of Gas Investigation
Independent comments on gas-transition planning, hybrid heating, renewable gas, and the LEAP framework.
Michael J. Walsh submitted these final comments independently in the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities’ Future of Gas investigation. The letter revisits his earlier critiques of renewable fuels and the utilities’ hybrid heating analysis, and calls for planning that considers buildings and their local energy infrastructure together.
The submission introduces the Local Energy Asset Planning framework as a way to evaluate alternatives at the street and municipal scales. The supplied three-page letter and the framework white paper are available as separate documents.
This independent 2022 work predates the AGO Climate Compliance Plans engagement.
