Rick Brown

Rick Brown, PE, is a seasoned mechanical engineer with over three decades of leadership and technical expertise in gas system planning, hydraulic analysis, and pipeline simulation. Over the course of his career at PG&E, he advanced from Gas Engineer to Interim Director of Gas System Planning, where he led teams of more than 100 engineers and spearheaded innovations in modeling, optimization, and safety planning that delivered hundreds of millions in savings and risk reductions.

Internationally recognized for his contributions to pipeline simulation, he has served on the Pipeline Simulation Interest Group Board of Directors for over 20 years and authored numerous award-winning papers. Since 2021, Rick has worked as an independent consultant, applying his deep knowledge of gas decarbonization strategies and hydraulic methodologies to support the energy transition.
